What’s the first thing you do when you wake up from sleep? My bet is, you’ll pick up your phone to check-up on your social media news feed; before you even get out of bed. You want to see what’s happening on social media; WhatsApp messages you have, what’s happening on Facebook, what’s trending on Twitter, what’s new on Pinterest, etc. You happen to belong to 45% of the world’s population (3,5 billion people) that enjoy social media.
According to askwonder.com, over 40% of cell phone users check their phones in the first five minutes of being awake. Approximately 12% of that activity consists of social media browsing before getting out of bed. Check more interesting stats about social media use here. I’ll count myself as a part of this 40% bevy, Twitter being responsible for that. I have it in my habit to check my Twitter feed before getting out of bed.
In this article, my intent is not to contrast the various social media apps that exist. I want to share my personal opinion on which of these social media apps is the most addictive or helpful to me. After reading this, you may decide to take the Twitter app more seriously – by becoming more active; I will count that as a win.
Many users struggled to understand what Twitter is and how they could use it, but it has now become the social media platform of choice for many. Find out all you need to know about Twitter in this article from ESRC.
As a beginner blogger, most of my traffic comes from social media, Twitter most especially. The SEO tree isn’t bearing much fruit yet. Thus, growing an active audience in this app is necessary. So, if I have to convince my readers to commit to Twitter, I will. That may be the goal of this article, but that’s not how I want you to see it. See it as; a valuable insight into your favorite blogger, me!
Unlike most of my other articles, this article is about me, not you! I’ll get back to writing for you in the next pieces. Although the benefits of Twitter to you could be inestimable, I’ll be discussing why Twitter is my favorite social media app. I’ll tell you why it’s the last app I close when going to bed and why it’s the first app I open when I wake up from bed. You can tell me what your own app choice of social media is now; by leaving me a comment.
Twitter is ideal for students and me.
Twitter has become increasingly popular with academics as well as students. Being a student blogger, I dedicate a significant slab of my content to students. After writing a helpful article about “the best apps for a healthy student life,” I need to reach as many students as possible, to have them read. My colossal student audience on Twitter doesn’t fail me.
Twitter lets me build profitable relationships.
Twitter allows me to build relationships like no other social media app does. You’re free to differ with me; that’s why there’s a comment section at the bottom of this page. Being active on Twitter for months has helped me build more relationships with experts than I could with five years on Facebook.
Connecting with fellow bloggers, content writers, app enthusiasts, start-up CEOs, developers, etc…, is essential for me. Twitter’s also helped me get a few interviews that have helped me with my articles. I also follow the work of other experts in my field. Besides, it’s nice to talk with some of my active followers; this allows me to gain more insight into what they expect from me as a writer.
Twitter enables me to stay up-to-date.
I like to stay up to date with everything that’s happening around me. Thanks to Twitter, I can stay up-to-date with the latest news and developments far and wide. I can also very easily share my up-to-date findings with others. From start-up news to politics to entertainment, Twitter is one of my primary sources of tipped information.
Twitter helps me express myself.
Besides tweeting about my work, articles, and findings, I can also tweet about other things that are of interest to me; my hobbies, news stories, and general observations. I also share Insights into non-academic aspects of my life that express who I am as a person. Ever wonder what could be going on in a person’s mind, check their Twitter page.
Twitter is where I get my audience.
Besides Whatsapp (where all my contacts are), Twitter is the next place where I can get people to read my work. The Twitter app helps me promote my blog by allowing me to “tweet” links to my blog stories. Twitter allows me to increase my audience by making it easy for me to reach new audiences.
Through the Twitter app, I can connect with a large number of people quickly, through tweets and retweets. In case you didn’t already know, Twitter is said to be a microblog (offering much smaller content than a regular blog). So, while LAH’S DIGITAL WORLD is my blog, Twitter is my second blog.
Social media is fun, so is Twitter.
Even though the essence of my blog is to inform and educate my audience, I also love to keep them happy and smiling as they read through my articles. Twitter helps me gather some sense of humor that I can always share with you (my audience). I can follow interesting, funny, celebrity people, etc. In order to be an interesting person to follow and engage with, I have to find jokes from inside and outside of me. It’s funny that the fun I give to Twitter, I get from Twitter.
The fact that I enjoy Twitter this much doesn’t mean you have to. Boy, I don’t know how anyone can ever get bored on Twitter. If I’m not learning something new, then I’m teaching someone something new. If I’m not laughing at someone’s joke, then I’m telling a joke. If I’m not connecting with my followers, then I’m connecting with experts. If I’m not engaging in a conversation, then I’m starting a conversation.
There’s just so much for one to do on Twitter. So much to gain from Twitter and so much to give to Twitter. Now you know why the first and place I go to every day is my Twitter app. Follow me on twitter, there’s much we can share over there!
